Potential Barricade Issue In New Yokohama Venue

Security and touring professional, specializing in venue security. I’ve directed details on multiple world tours in addition to working close protection for high profile clients.

This is what happens when a venue over thinks an issue that is not a problem and makes it one.

We’re in Japan for 2 shows in a new venue that has relatively limited experience.

We brought up the barricade configuration to venue management and informed them it created more issues than the problems they were trying to fix.

Usually having a thrust in the forward barricade will help elevate some of the stress or push from the crowd.

In this situation, by creating too many artificial thrusts, you eliminate prime viewing areas, force patrons into the narrow chutes this design creates and exacerbate the problem you’re trying to fix.

***UPDATE I hesitated to name the venue, but due to the inherent capacity of 20k and their frustratingly poor response to the issue, I want to make everyone aware. This is K-arena in Yokohama.
