More Good Days To Come – Samuel Hurley

To the Day-In, Day-Out Techs:
When you feel like giving up on live audio especially after a decade (or longer) it’s understandable.
You’ve invested so much:
• Years of time
• Long load-ins, shows, load-outs
• Great experiences, the memories
• Hard days, hard nights, the adrenaline

It’s easy to think: “Maybe I’m just done.”
But maybe… you’re not done.
Maybe you just need to diversify.

Here’s how you can pivot without leaving everything you’ve built behind:

Own gear start small, rent smart

Work for a manufacturer your hands-on expertise is rare

Corporate? Modulate to arena.

Arena? Modulate to corporate.

Become a PM or TM hands off the gear, brain on the big picture

Focus on sales land clients for rental houses or vendors

Develop products you know the gaps better than anyone

You might feel like giving up but really, it’s time to pivot.

You already have what new people don’t:
Experience.
Hard lessons.
Time.
Your years in this industry are not a burden they’re your biggest asset.
Stay open. Stay flexible.
Keep building. It’s still yours.

With love, and with respect to the road dogs, the shop rats, the loaders, and the legends in the making.
